Tim Jay attended the Royal Australian Air Force Academy and graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering from Sydney University. He became a captain on C130E Hercules aircraft. Following twenty years of service in the RAAF, Tim decided to pursue a career in law. He attended Bond University and graduated with first class honours in 1996.
Tim completed a Masters Degree in law at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and soon after gained employment with Shearman and Sterling in New York. In 2000, Tim moved to Hong Kong where he worked for the international law firm Coudert Brothers on a variety of cross?border finance and capital raising transactions.
Returning to Australia in at the end of 2001, Tim worked in Sydney and on the Gold Coast before joining the staff at Bond University in 2006, where he is teaching while undertaking a Ph.D. in tax law. He is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and has been admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales and as an Attorney of the Supreme Court of New York.
